(Seguin) — Seguin High School senior Kayden Holz has made his college baseball commitment official.
On Monday, Holz announced on social media that he will play baseball at Our Lady of the Lake University. The Saints play in the NAIA Red River Athletic Conference.
Holz provided some late-inning heroics for the Seguin baseball team this past season. On March 28th, the Matador shortstop tripled in the bottom of the seventh to bring home the winning run in a 2-1 walk-off win for Seguin over Kerrville-Tivy at Smokey Joe Williams Field. On April 9th against San Antonio Veterans Memorial, Holz delivered a bases-clearing double to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh. He would later score the winning run in another Seguin walk-off win.
Holz was also a member of the Seguin track team. Holz along with Nik Henry, Ocean Moreno and Elliot Weaver won the bronze medal for the Matador 4X100 relay team at the UIL Class 5A state track & field meet in Austin on May 3rd.
Our Lady of the Lake University is a private Catholic university in San Antonio. The baseball program is led by head coach Matt Piker. The Saints had a 28-24 overall record during the 2024 season.
