Seguin track stars shine at state meet

(Austin) — Seguin High School student athletes competed at the UIL Class 5A state track & field meet in Austin on Friday with four Matadors bringing hardware back to Seguin.

Nik Henry competed in the boys 100 meter dash. He finished in fifth place in the finals with a time of 10.57. Henry joined Ocean Moreno, Elliot Weaver and Kayden Holz on the Seguin boys 4X100 meter relay team, which took home the bronze medal. The foursome finished with a time of 40.78.

The Seguin boys 4X200 meter relay team of Moreno, Henry, Weaver and Sammy Bode finished fifth. The team posted a time of 1:27.86 in their final heat.

Daisha Shular competed for Seguin in the girls long jump and 100 meter dash. Shular’s time of 12 seconds in the 100 meters was good for eight in the state. Her jump of 18-00.75 placed her seventh in the state in the long jump.
