(Seguin) — Seguin ISD voters have approved a tax rate adjustment designed to bring additional money into the district while not increasing the overall tax rate.
Proposition A, the district’s Voter-Approval Tax Ratification Election (VATRE), received 7,711 votes in favor of and 7,621 votes against.
According to the district, the approval allows the district to adjust its maintenance and operations
(M&O) tax rate while maintaining an overall tax rate of $1.0828 per $100 valuation.
Excited over the news and appreciating the benefits that this funding will have on the district is Seguin ISD Superintendent Jack Lee.
District officials previously explained that the measure is expected to generate approximately $2.5 million in additional annual revenue, combining local tax dollars and state matching funds.
The additional funding is intended to help support classroom teachers, staff salaries, campus safety and everyday district operations as Seguin ISD continues to deal with rising costs and state mandates.
