(Seguin) — Republican incumbent Alan Schoolcraft will return to Austin after defeating Democratic Candidate Eric Norman in the race for Texas House District 44.
The election, with the same results, marked a rematch from two years ago. However, prior to Schoolcraft and Norman going head to head, Schoolcraft first unseated longtime State Rep. John Kuempel for the Republican nomination.
This time, Schoolcraft again carried both Guadalupe and Gonzales counties, maintaining his lead over Norman and securing another term representing the district. Schoolcraft received 42,690 of the votes cast while Norman trailed with 32,557 votes.
Neither Schoolcraft nor Norman could be reached for comment following Tuesday night’s election results.
