Special by Lindsay Hajek, assistant director of Main Street and Destination Seguin
(Seguin) – It’s time to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary in Seguin, home of the Biggest Small-Town Fourth of July Parade, and plan to attend events such as Fireworks Fiesta, Freedom Fiesta, the Patriotic Concert, and much more.
The celebration begins on Friday, July 3, with the Seguin Craft Beer & Wine Fest, hosted by the Chamber of Commerce. The event will feature regional breweries, wineries, food, and entertainment at the Coliseum. Later that evening at 9:30 p.m., all eyes will turn to Max Starcke Park for Fireworks Fiesta.
Saturday, July 4, begins with the annual Flag Raising Ceremony at 9 a.m. in Central Park. The ceremony will honor the significance of Independence Day through patriotic music, speakers, and community reflection before the day’s main event begins. At 10 a.m., Seguin will once again demonstrate why it claims the title of the Biggest Small-Town Fourth of July Parade in Texas.More than 150 entries are expected to travel down Austin Street, featuring marching groups, military, classic vehicles, community organizations, local businesses, and leaders.
Leading this year’s parade are retired United States Air Force Lieutenant General Brad Webb and United States Air Force Lieutenant General Tome Walters. The City of Seguin is honored to recognize both Webb and Walters for their distinguished service. The celebration continues Saturday evening with Freedom Fiesta, hosted by KWED Radio in Central Park. A Seguin tradition dating back to 1967, Freedom Fiesta brings the community together for an evening of live music and family fun. Families are encouraged to gather beginning at 5:30 p.m. for the popular Kiddie Parade. This year’s event will feature a headline performance by local favorite Clint Taft and the Buck Wild Band, over 30 vendors and food trucks, bounce houses, games, and expanded entertainment for all ages throughout downtown Seguin. Food vendors plan to arrive early in the morning in Central Park, offering breakfast items, refreshments, and snacks available for purchase before and during the parade.
The patriotic celebration concludes Sunday evening with the final concert of the Main Street Program’s Central Park Summer Concert Series. Beginning at 7 p.m., the San Antonio Symphonic Band will present a special concert commemorating America’s 250th anniversary.
Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and enjoy food vendors on site.
The Seguin Field of Honor is currently on display through July 5 at Faith Lutheran Church and serves as a beautiful tribute and powerful reminder of why we celebrate, honoring active military personnel, veterans, first responders, and fallen heroes.
For a community known for celebrating big, this year promises to be one to remember. For more information about Fourth of July events and activities, visit www.visitseguin.com.
