(Seguin) — Beach-themed memories will be in the making during this year’s Seguin Police Department’s annual Father Daughter Dance.
The event will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, June 13 at the Seguin Coliseum.
Although the event carries a beach and coastal theme this year, Stephanie Larrimore, community engagement officer for the Seguin Police Department, says attendees should not feel pressured to wear formal ballroom attire.
“This year, we’re doing a beach theme. I personally am not a big fan of the big fancy dresses. I don’t feel as comfortable wearing it, and I’m sure some kids might not either. So with it being more of a beach theme, you know, the girls can wear a nice little summer dress and cute little sandals. We’ll have food. We’re going to have a DJ out there and the event is from 6 to 8:30 p.m. This is just a nice one-on-one with dad,” said Larrimore.
Larrimore says the dance is open to daughters of all ages, not just young children. She says the PD tradition was even meaningful for her own family.
“Me and my sisters were all adults and right before my father passed away because he had cancer, we actually took my father to this event. I mean, we have this memory, something that we can always hold onto even years later. So this I feel is nice to do with dads. They can develop that relationship like, hey, this is something that we’re going to do every year. Some of these father and daughters, they have done it for the last couple of years. This is one of those events too, where the city of Seguin or the police department in general has been doing for at least 15 to 16 years,” Larrimore.
Larrimore encourages families not to wait too long. She says tickets tend to go quickly.
“It’s one of those events that we do sell out every year. If it’s something that you’re thinking about or considering, I would definitely buy this ticket sooner than later,” said Larrimore.
Cost is $55 for father/daughter couple and $10 for each additional princess. Valet parking is also available for $10. This year, guests will get to select their own seating when purchasing tickets online. Tickets can be purchased through the link available on the Seguin Police Department Facebook page.
