Fire officials credit local partnership for helping to save area home

(Seguin) — Fire officials are applauding a strong partnership between Guadalupe County Fire Rescue and the Geronimo Volunteer Fire Department for helping to save a family’s home during a recent residential structure fire in the Navarro Ranch subdivision.

They say fire crews assigned to the newly staffed Geronimo fire station arrived at the home about four minutes after dispatch. Firefighters immediately began attacking the fire while also searching the residence to make sure everyone had safely evacuated.

Officials say crews were able to begin suppression efforts much faster than previously possible. This quick response also limited additional damage to the home.

Patrick Pinder, Guadalupe County Fire Marshal/Emergency Management Coordinator says the incident highlights the importance of placing full-time emergency personnel in growing areas of Guadalupe County while continuing to strengthen partnerships with local volunteer fire departments.

Officials say these types of partnerships and regional coordination will continue to play a vital role especially as they work to meet the needs of the county’s growing population.
