(Luling) — Deputies from the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office were among several law enforcement officers that responded Saturday morning after a man allegedly threatened his wife and claimed he might carry out a mass shooting at a local business in Luling.
According to the Luling Police Department, officers received the report at approximately 9:12 a.m. Authorities say the suspect had made threats against his wife and indicated he could target a business in the city.
Luling officers responded immediately and were joined by the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office, Precinct 2 Constable’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office and the Gonzales County Sheriff’s Office.
Law enforcement officers secured the business, checked on employees and customers, and searched the area for the suspect and his vehicle. Officials say by the time officers arrived; the suspect had already left Luling.
Using information from the Flock Safety camera system, investigators determined the suspect was traveling south on U.S. Highway 183. That information was relayed to deputies in Gonzales County, who successfully located the vehicle, initiated a pursuit and safely took the suspect into custody.
Authorities have not yet released the suspect’s identity or any potential charges.
Luling Police Chief Marcus Kinnard-Bing says he appreciates the agencies that assisted in the response.
No injuries were reported.
