(Victoria) — Game one of the Class 3A Region IV baseball semifinal between Marion and Falfurrias is scheduled for 6 p.m. today at Victoria Riverside Stadium.
The Bulldogs are coming off a two-game sweep of Columbus in the area round last week. Prior to that, Marion swept Crystal City in the bi-district round. The Bulldogs have scored 10 or more runs in each of their last three postseason games and have outscored their opponents 36-4 across their four victories. Marion senior Huck Schoenvogel, an All-State pitcher, has allowed just one run in 13 innings pitched this postseason.
Falfurrias swept Rio Hondo in the bi-district round and then knocked out Bishop in three games in the area round. The Jersey Bulls dropped game one of that series before rallying to take both games of a doubleheader to advance — including a 1-0 victory in the deciding game.
The best-of-three series will continue Friday at 6 p.m., with a deciding game Saturday at 12:30 p.m. if necessary. The winner advances to face either London or Goliad in the Region IV finals next week.
