Guadalupe County celebrates economic development efforts

(Seguin) – Those who work behind the scenes to attract business to Guadalupe County are getting the recognition that they deserve.

The Guadalupe County Commissioners Court recently officially proclaimed a part of the month of May as Economic Development Week in Guadalupe County.

Representatives from Seguin, Schertz and Cibolo economic development corporations were among those recognized at the meeting.

County officials stated that the proclamation recognized the role economic development plays in job creation, workforce development, infrastructure improvements and maintaining a strong tax base that supports county services and community amenities.

SEDC Executive Director Alora Wachholz, says she wanted to thank county leaders for supporting economic development efforts across the region.

“What we do sometimes isn’t seen. We’re the great connectors, the relationship builders between community and business,” said Wachholz. “The decisions that you make in this room significantly impact our communities across Guadalupe County.”

Schertz EDC Executive Director Scott Wayman also praised the working relationship between local governments and economic development groups.

“Every win that we have affects you guys directly and vice versa,” said Wayman. “We’re very happy with the relationship we have with the city of Seguin and Cibolo.”

Guadalupe County Judge Kyle Kutscher also thanked local EDC leaders for their behind-the-scenes work in helping communities secure economic opportunities.

“It does take those partnerships to be able to come together and get those wins,” said Kutscher. “You’re the ones that make everything work.”

EDC officials say attraction of new business is currently on the rise with the rapid growth and development occurring right now throughout Guadalupe County and surrounding areas.
