(Seguin) — Two men were arrested after sheriff’s deputies recovered a stolen cargo shipment of snow crabs making its way through Guadalupe County.
Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office Investigators say the snow crabs were valued at more than $250,000.
Deputies say they had recently received information that the stolen shipment was being transported through the county in a truck tractor and semi-trailer.
Investigators quickly located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in the 8800 block of Interstate 10 West.
Following an investigation, they say deputies confirmed the cargo had been stolen and recovered the shipment without incident.
Taken into custody were two suspects Rafael Velez and Leonardo Lara. Both were booked into the Guadalupe County Jail on a first-degree felony charge of theft of cargo valued at $200,000 or more.
The Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Bureau followed up and met with the cargo owners on Friday to coordinate the return of the shipment.
Officials say the investigation remains ongoing.
