(Seguin) — The Seguin Matadors claimed their second straight District 27-5A championship Wednesday with a dominant 17-0 run-rule victory over San Antonio Lanier in five innings at Matador Legends Ballpark.
Ethan Tipple, Austin Patek and Connor Taft combined on a no-hitter, striking out nine batters. Tipple was also productive at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, an RBI and three runs scored.
Seguin closes its regular season Friday at home against San Antonio Jefferson before opening UIL Class 5A bi-district playoff action next Thursday.
(Marion) — The Marion Bulldogs, undefeated champions of District 27-3A, will use a pair of tune-up games this week to stay sharp heading into the postseason.
Marion hosts Schulenburg this afternoon before traveling to Cuero on Friday. The Bulldogs then open a best-of-three bi-district series against Crystal City next Thursday. First pitch in today’s game is scheduled for 4 o’clock at Marion High School.
(Seguin) — The Navarro Panthers capped the District 28-4A season as champions, finishing 9-1 in district play.
Navarro hosts Hallettsville on Friday in a playoff warmup before opening UIL bi-district action next week.
