(Seguin) — Craig Dailey stepped down today as the head football coach and athletic director at Seguin High School. The district has issued the following press release:
SEGUIN, Texas (April 2, 2026) – After five years of committed service, Craig Dailey,
Seguin Independent School District’s Athletic Director and Head Football Coach, has
announced his decision to step down.
“For 20 years, my family has supported me while building my career, and they have
sacrificed a great deal along the way,” Dailey said. “With a granddaughter on the way, a
son playing college football out of state, and a daughter competing in volleyball, I feel it
is the right time to take a step back and accept another position within the district, one
that will allow me the time and flexibility to be there for them.”
Dailey is a Seguin High School and Texas Lutheran University graduate who returned to
the district in 2021 to lead both the district’s athletic program and the high school’s
football team.
“I am deeply grateful for the opportunity this district has given me to help lead and build
Seguin Athletics,” Dailey said. “Together, we have made tremendous strides over the
past five years, and I am incredibly proud of what this program has become.”
Seguin ISD is grateful for his leadership and the lasting impact Coach Dailey has made
on student-athletes, coaches, and the Seguin community. His involvement in building
student athletes both on and off the field will continue to be felt for years to come.
“I want to thank Coach Dailey for his dedication to Seguin ISD and the entire Seguin
community. Seguin is his home, and he bleeds black and gold. As we look to the future,
we will begin the search for a new Athletic Director and Head Football Coach. Our goal
is to find an individual who cares deeply about our community, builds relationships,
inspires success, and is committed to doing what is best for students each and every
day,” said Seguin ISD Superintendent Dr. Jack Lee.
Dailey will transition into a new role in the 2026-2027 school year, but will continue to
serve as athletic director until a replacement is found. Seguin ISD will begin its search
for a new athletic director and head football coach immediately.
