The Marion JV baseball team competes against Randolph at Marion High School prior to the varsity game on March 30, 2026.

(Marion) — The Marion Bulldogs won their 10th straight behind a five-inning no-hitter from Huck Schoenvogel in a 10-0 run-rule victory over Randolph on Monday night at Marion High School.

Schoenvogel struck out eight and walked only two as the Bulldogs improved to 5-0 in District 27-3A and remained in a tie for first place with defending district champion Jourdanton. Marion exploded for six runs in the second inning. Kyson McBride drove in two with a base hit that plated Kade Pape and Mateo Zuniga. Bulldog leadoff hitter Eli Parker reached base three times on the night, scoring twice.

Marion is 18-6 on the season. The Bulldogs and Ro-Hawks will play again Thursday afternoon, with first pitch set for 4 p.m. at Randolph High School.

(Cuero) — The Cuero Gobblers rallied past Navarro, walking off the Panthers 7-6 in nine innings Monday in Cuero.

The Panthers held a 6-2 lead after three innings, but the Gobblers scored one in the fourth and three in the fifth to tie the game and force extras. Navarro’s Noah Rosas had two hits and two RBI. Austin Davidson had two hits and a run scored, and Emerson Elder scored two runs in the defeat. Ryan Davidson started on the mound and went six innings, allowing two earned runs and striking out seven.

Navarro and Cuero split their two-game series, with the Panthers winning 10-8 on Friday in Geronimo. Both teams are tied for second place in District 28-4A at 3-1. Navarro will next host first-place La Vernia (4-0) on Thursday night. We’ll have that game on KWED.

Turning to softball,

(Geronimo) — The Navarro Lady Panthers fell 13-5 to La Vernia in Geronimo on Monday night.

Lady Panther senior catcher Shelbi Stevens hit her 15th home run of the season with a two-run shot in the third inning, extending her single-season school home run record. Navarro fell to 2-4 in district play. The Lady Panthers will be at Gonzales on Thursday night.
