Community invited to roll up sleeves for Westside clean-up, Day of the Dogs service event

(Seguin) — A community-wide effort to spruce up neighborhoods and lend a helping hand is set to return this weekend, as the West End Neighborhood Project partners with the City of Seguin and Texas Lutheran University for a Spring Clean-Up and Day of the Dogs Day of Service.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, March 21, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., focusing on Seguin’s Westside neighborhood. Organizers say the effort is aimed at not only improving the appearance of the area but also strengthening community pride and neighbor-to-neighbor connections.

Volunteers from Texas Lutheran University will be going door-to-door during the event, assisting residents with gathering and disposing of unwanted items from their homes and yards. Community members in that area are also encouraged to bring items directly to designated dumpsters that will be placed at the corner of Dolle and Jones streets. Four 30-yard roll-off containers will be available.

Residents planning to participate are reminded that certain items will not be accepted. Prohibited materials include hazardous waste such as batteries, paint, oil, grease, chlorine, or any chemical mixtures, as well as tires and appliances containing Freon.

Those wishing to roll up their sleeves are invited to gather on the morning of the event at 606 Dolle Street. There at that address, teams will organize and coordinate work throughout the neighborhood.
