(Seguin) – Two weeks of early voting in Guadalupe County has wrapped up with a total of 18,137 ballots cast.
Friday was the final opportunity for voters to cast a ballot in this year’s March 3 Joint Primary Elections.
With early voting behind them, Michelle Shields, interim elections administrator for Guadalupe County, says it’s now time to send out those reminders for those planning to vote on Tuesday.
She says the advice is to help ensure that the process runs smoothly for everyone including her staff.
First, she says voters must present an approved photo ID, such as a Texas driver’s license, Texas personal identification card, handgun license, military ID, or passport. Those who arrive without proper identification may cast a provisional ballot but will have six days after Election Day to present valid ID at the Seguin Elections Office for their vote to be counted.
Second, because this is a primary election, Shields say voters must select which party’s ballot they wish to cast when checking in. She says they will have to choose between a Republican or Democratic ballot. It should be noted that all locally contested races in Guadalupe County for the March Primary appear on the Republican ballot. Prior to heading to the polls, it is suggested that voters grab their respective sample ballot from the elections office website to ensure the ballot of their choice.
Thirdly, Shields reminds voters that cellphones are not permitted inside the voting room. Paper sample ballots are allowed, but political signs, campaign clothing, or other materials are prohibited within 100 feet of the entrance to a polling location.
On election day, voters are reminded that they will have 38 polling locations in which to cast their ballot. Guadalupe County operates Vote Centers which allow any county registered voter to vote at any one of the locations regardless of the precinct in which they reside. Polling locations on Tuesday will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Anyone who may have a question regarding election day is encouraged to contact the elections office at 830-303-4188. To get a copy of your sample ballot, visit the election’s office website.
