Music, pride plus competition takes center stage at State Mariachi Festival

(Seguin) — The sounds of trumpets and violins return for the second day of the UIL State Mariachi Festival here in Seguin.

Hosted at the Seguin ISD Performing Arts Center, the three-day competition presented by the University Interscholastic League continues today (Friday, Feb. 20) with performances from some of the top high school mariachi programs across Texas.

The festival, which began Thursday, runs through Saturday.

Throughout the day, competing groups will perform in their respective sessions. Performances are open to the public.

Today’s Friday schedule includes a 4 p.m. hometown performance by the Seguin High School Mariachi Matador.

Admission is $15 per person, per session, for ages 3 and up. Children ages 2 and under are free.

Tickets can be purchased online at uil.org/music/mariachi.  Organizers note that no cash sales are offered, and spectators must purchase admission for each session they attend.
