(Pearsall) — The Marion Lady Bulldogs were eliminated from the Class 3A Division I playoffs on Tuesday night.
Marion fell to Crystal City 66-26 at Pearsall High School. Junior Whitley Wiatrek led the Lady Bulldogs with 10 points. Senior Brooke Hopcus finished her career as a Lady Bulldog with 8 points, while fellow senior Shadie Rabenault added 5.
Marion ended the regular season in a three-way tie for second place in District 27-3A. The Lady Bulldogs won 17 games this season under first-year head coach Luke Chapman.
(Floresville) -– The Navarro Runnin’ Lady Panthers fell in the Class 4A Division II bi-district round Tuesday night.
Carrizo Springs held off a late Navarro rally, winning 42-38. Senior Trinity Loftice led the Lady Panthers with 12 points. Freshman Elle Hepp tallied 10, and senior Camden Shields added 8.
Navarro won 11 games overall this season for first-year head coach Nick Israel. The Lady Panthers finished fourth in District 28-4A.
On the boys side…
(San Antonio) -– The Seguin Matadors’ season came to a close Tuesday night with a loss at San Antonio Brackenridge.
The Eagles rallied for a 62-58 win. Brackenridge outscored the Matadors 18-13 in the fourth quarter for the come-from-behind victory. Junior Jay Menchaca paced Seguin with 24 points. Junior Mikey Hernandez poured in 14, and junior Jio Parra added 11.
Seguin finished the season with a 15-15 overall record and a sixth-place finish in District 27-5A. Head coach Guy Nowlin completed his sixth season leading the Matadors.
(Marion) – The Marion Bulldogs, champions of District 27-3A, are awaiting their opponent in the bi-district round next week.
Marion is ranked 13th in the latest Class 3A coaches poll. The Bulldogs finished the regular season with a 26-7 record. The bi-district round begins this coming Monday.
(Seguin) -– The Navarro Panthers are also in the playoffs.
The Panthers finished fourth in District 28-4A and will play in the bi-district round next week.
