GCSO, DPS conduct IH-10 Safe Corridor Operation

Zero crashes reported during three-day enforcement effort

(Seguin) – A more visible presence of patrol units on IH-10 is proving success in keeping drivers safe.

The Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with the Texas Department of Public Safety, is sharing the results of its Operation IH-10 Safe Corridor. The operation was conducted February 3–5, along Interstate 10 in Guadalupe County.

This high-visibility enforcement initiative focused on the active construction zone between mile markers 604 and 617. Sheriff’s officials say its objectives were to reduce traffic crashes, increase compliance with traffic laws, deter criminal activity, and strengthen interagency coordination along one of the county’s busiest transportation corridors.

Over the three-day operation, they say deputies and troopers conducted 298 total traffic stops, resulting in 156 citations and 191 warnings.

Authorities also made four misdemeanor arrests and four felony arrests. Four individuals were detained under ICE authority, and one weapon was seized during the operation.

All in all, a total of 14 enforcement units participated in the coordinated effort.

Most importantly, they say no traffic collisions were reported within the enforcement area during the operation timeframe.

Guadalupe County Sheriff Joshua Ray says Operation IH-10 Safe Corridor successfully met its objectives by addressing unsafe driving behaviors and identifying criminal activity along a high-risk corridor. He says the sheriff’s office remains committed to proactive, intelligence-driven enforcement initiatives and continued collaboration with the Texas Department of Public Safety to enhance roadway safety throughout Guadalupe County.

“This was a coordinated enforcement effort in response to an increase in traffic crashes and citizen concerns. We are committed to protecting our citizens and travelers passing through Guadalupe County. I am thankful for our continued partnership with the Texas Department of Public Safety and their assistance in improving traffic safety and deterring criminal activity in our county,” said Ray.
