Lady Matadors can punch playoff ticket tonight on KWED

Seguin freshman Phaedra Douglas (#4)

(Seguin) — The Seguin Lady Matadors will look to clinch a playoff spot tonight on KWED.

The Lady Mats host San Antonio Edison this evening. Seguin is 8-6 and in fourth place in District 27-5A, one-and-a-half games ahead of the Lady Bears for the final playoff spot. A win tonight would put the Lady Mats in the UIL playoffs.

Edison escaped with a 42-41 victory over Seguin in San Antonio on January 6. Tonight’s rematch tips off at 6:30 p.m. KWED will broadcast the game, with the Lady Mat pregame show starting at 6:20 p.m. Tipoff from the Seguin High School Student Activity Center is at 6:30 p.m. on AM 1580 and streaming at SeguinToday.com.

(San Antonio) — The Seguin Matador boys are in San Antonio tonight to take on Edison.

The Matadors are two games back in the loss column for the final playoff spot with four games remaining in the regular season. Seguin and Edison tip off at 7:30 p.m. at San Antonio Edison High School.

(Universal City) — The Marion boys and girls travel down the road to take on rival Randolph tonight.

The Bulldog boys, winners of five straight, are 22-7 overall and tied for first in District 27-3A with a 5-1 district record. The Lady Bulldogs are in third place with a 3-3 district record.

Tonight’s doubleheader between Marion and Randolph tips off with the girls’ game at 6:15 p.m. at Randolph High School.

(Gonzales) — The Navarro basketball teams are in Gonzales for a doubleheader tonight.

The Navarro boys are in fourth place in the District 28-4A standings and lead the Apaches by one game for the final playoff spot with four games remaining. A win tonight would give the Panthers a sweep of Gonzales and reduce their magic number to one to clinch a playoff berth.

The Runnin’ Lady Panthers have already clinched a playoff spot with two games left in their season. They’ll play in the bi-district round, which starts February 16.

Tonight’s doubleheader between Navarro and Gonzales gets underway at 6:15 p.m. with the girls’ game at Gonzales High School.

(Seguin) — Texas Lutheran will host Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference basketball doubleheaders this weekend.

The TLU men and women host Austin College on Saturday for Senior Day at Memorial Gymnasium. The men tip off at 4 p.m. On Sunday, both teams host the University of Dallas, with the men playing at 2 p.m.
