SEGUIN, Texas — The 11-time defending Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) champion Texas Lutheran softball team has been voted by the league’s head coaches as the 2026 preseason favorite. The conference announced the SCAC Preseason Poll Thursday.
The Bulldogs received 118 points in this year’s poll and were followed by St. Thomas with 110 and Concordia (TX) with 96. TLU received eight of the 11 first place votes with St. Thomas garnering two and Austin College receiving the final vote. This marks the 12th straight year that TLU has topped the conference’s preseason poll.
McMurry was selected fourth (86 points), Centenary fifth (68), and LeTourneau sixth (66). Rounding out the poll was Hendrix (47 points), Schreiner (41 points), Ozarks (38 points), Austin College (32 points), and Dallas (24 points).
The Bulldogs finished the SCAC regular season 29-1 in 2025 en route to their 11th consecutive regular season conference regular season crown.
Texas Lutheran holds a combined SCAC record of 240-8 since joining the conference and have not lost a conference series since joining the conference in 2014.
Overall, the program has won 20 SCAC titles (11 regular season titles and nine SCAC tournament championships) all under head coach Wade Wilson.
Texas Lutheran returns five all-conference selections from a season ago including Academic All-American Serena Gonzalez (Corpus Christi/Foy H. Moody) and two-time NFCA All-American second baseman Caelee Clark (Montgomery/Lake Creek).
The Bulldogs open the 2026 season Feb. 6 at home as they host Mary Hardin-Baylor. The 2026 schedule features 25 home games, including five SCAC series in Seguin.
