(Seguin) – Just like the huge meal, The Table, to be served this Sunday at the Seguin Coliseum, others across town this weekend are also stepping up to make sure no one in Seguin goes without a warm meal or a welcoming place to gather. These events are all thanks to local churches, volunteers, nonprofits, and even neighbors.
The weekend of generosity begins this Saturday (Nov. 22) with a free community meal hosted by Steve Alyea, with support from the Knights of Columbus Council 16748. The meal is especially aimed at anyone affected by the recent government shutdown and struggling to get back on their feet. Meanwhile, organizers say all are welcome. Plates will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish Hall.
The giving continues Sunday morning, (Nov. 23), as The Olive Branch Fellowship hosts its Love Your Neighbor Community Thanksgiving Meal beginning at 11 a.m. at 735 E. Kingsbury St. The free meal — available for dine-in or to-go — will be served until all plates are gone. wishing to support the effort can donate at olivebranch.church by including “Thanksgiving Meal” in the memo. Life Changing Church on Sunday will also be welcoming the community for its annual Thanksgiving Service and dinner, beginning at 2 p.m. at 842 E. Pine St. In addition to the worship service, the church will raffle Thanksgiving baskets and H-E-B gift cards. Participation is free to those present during the service. Following the service, a free Thanksgiving dinner will be provided.
Registration for the service will run from 12:15 to 1:45 p.m. No late registrations will be accepted.
