(Seguin) — A fiery crash shut down parts of Interstate 10 and the State Highway 123 Bypass in Seguin Thursday evening.
Emergency crews were called out just before 5:30 p.m. after an 18-wheeler burst into flames along I-10 at the 123 Bypass. Seguin firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze as thick smoke filled the area.
Police stopped traffic in both directions on I-10 and diverted drivers off the 123 Bypass. Northbound lanes were closed, and southbound traffic was rerouted as crews battled the fire.
The detours caused heavy congestion across town, with Kingsbury Street seeing a steady flow of highway traffic, including numerous 18-wheelers trying to get around the shutdown.
Authorities have not released details on what caused the fire or if anyone was injured. More information is expected later today.
