(Seguin) — Early voting for the Nov. 4 election date continues this week. As of Monday morning, 4,632 voters have already taken advantage of the early voting period, which continues through this Friday.
Early voting is underway at eight locations across the county, including the newly opened Guadalupe County Elections Office located at 3251 N. State Highway 123. This facility replaces the former office and will for the first time serve as the official site for both early voting and Election Day voting.
Guadalupe County Elections Administrator Lisa Hayes says the remaining 7 early voting sites – as usual — are located all across the county.
“We have Texas State Technical College in New Braunfels. We’ve got the Cibolo Fire Station Number Two in Cibolo, Redemptive Grace Ministries in New Braunfels, (and) Christ Lutheran Church out near New Berlin on Church Road. We have the elections office annex – that office has opened back up (in Schertz). We have Marion ISD Tondre Room and Seguin ISD Admin Building. So we’ve got quite a few locations for voters to vote early. Any of our registered voters can vote at any of the early voting locations. Their hours are all the same, so you don’t have to worry about which one is open and which one isn’t,” said Hayes.
Elections officials say voters will see 17 proposed amendments to the Texas Constitution on every ballot.
Those state constitutional amendments include the creation of a fund that could have big benefits to Seguin and Guadalupe County.
Proposition 1 will create a permanent source of funding for Texas State Technical College projects. That would include the building of a new TSTC campus in Seguin, that’s already in the works.
In addition to the state constitutional amendments on every ballot, there will be additional local races on the ballot, depending on where you live.
Local ballot items include a $60 million bond election in the Marion ISD. The bond issue is being proposed for a new elementary school, land for future facilities and/or campus and new school buses.
There are also several water district elections on ballots in Guadalupe County.
Elections officials say to avoid delays, voters are reminded to bring an acceptable form of photo ID and to review sample ballots ahead of time. Sample ballots, early voting schedules, and polling location details can be found online at co.guadalupe.tx.us or by visiting the Elections Office in Seguin.
Early voting continues this week with hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. Election Day is set for Tuesday, Nov. 4.
