(Seguin) — The Texas Lutheran Bulldogs return home this Saturday to face Hendrix College in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.
TLU rolled past the Centenary Gents, 55-27, in Shreveport, Louisiana this past Saturday in their conference opener. Running back Weston Guzman had 127 yards rushing and four touchdowns in the victory. Owen Garcia led the defense with 12 tackles. The defensive back was named the SCAC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season following his performance.
Bulldog head coach Neal LaHue called last week’s game a complete team victory.
“I was proud of them. I thought they played well. I thought it was a pure team victory,” LaHue said. “Our special teams got a big turnover there in the third quarter that kind of shifted some momentum away from them. We got a fumble recovery on a muffed punt. We got three turnovers by the defense. I thought that was critical. (Centenary) made some plays. They closed the gap (in the third quarter) a little bit. But the one thing we said going in was we had to run the football. We did that and we were very efficient with the passing game.
Texas Lutheran will face a Hendrix team that also won their conference opener. The Warriors blasted Austin College last Saturday, 60-21.
The Bulldogs will celebrate Senior Day this Saturday. 20 senior players will be recognized at Bulldog Stadium before the game, which kicks off at 1 p.m. You’ll be able to hear the game on KWED. Our TLU football pregame starts at 12:30 Saturday afternoon on AM 1580 and streaming at SeguinToday.com.
