(Seguin) — Seguin and much of Guadalupe County were hit with strong storms overnight, bringing heavy rainfall and the threat of flash flooding to the area.

A flash flood warning was in effect until 3 a.m. this morning, with as much as two to three inches of rain falling in some spots and more expected during the early morning hours. Residents were urged to stay off the roads as several low-lying areas became flooded.

Earlier in the evening, a tornado watch was issued for the region, but no tornadoes were reported locally. However, the storms did bring strong winds and the potential for large hail as they moved through the I-35 corridor.

The severe weather threat has since diminished, but forecasters warn that additional storms may be possible later this week. Residents are reminded to stay weather-aware and to continue using caution on area roadways this morning.
