(Seguin) — The new president of the Seguin-Guadalupe County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is promising a night of celebration and recognition during the 36th annual Awards Banquet. Tickets are now available for the event scheduled for Wednesday night at the Seguin Coliseum.
Elected this past spring to lead the chamber is Louis Q. Reyes. Reyes, says the group is preparing for an exciting evening and invites the community to join their business members for a night of networking and entertainment.
“This is our 36th annual awards banquet featuring Robert (Bobby) Pulido, a Tejano star accompanied by our Seguin Matador Mariachi. It’s going to be a wonderful evening,” said Reyes.
The event will also feature keynote speaker Ruben Perez, former Assistant City of Houston Attorney and retired Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of Texas. Perez, a Seguin native, will not only share his professional experience but will talk about his role as an attorney – working alongside a groundbreaking team of bilingual patrol officers who were “plucked from their beats and suddenly promoted to detectives to form the first all Latin homicide unit dedicated to tackling Houston’s soaring rate of Latin homicide cases in 1979.”
This historic event was the basis for the Discovery Channel’s Chicano Squad documentary released last year.
Tickets for the Hispanic Chamber banquet are $35 each. They are available in advance at the Seguin Guadalupe County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, from Joe Rea—Seguin City Councilman, and at Reyes & Family Insurance Agency.
The banquet will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. The Seguin Coliseum is located at 950 S. Austin St.
