(Seguin) — The ongoing political fight in the United States took the the streets over the weekend, including an event here in Seguin. The so-called “Hands Off” rallies were held in all 50 states on Saturday. The political protests were billed as a protest against some of the policies and practices of the Trump Administration. In Seguin, protesters held up signs on Saturday afternoon that touched on several issues, including school vouchers, immigration, Social Security and Medicaid.
Organizers say approximately 300 people attended the rally in Seguin’s Central Park. They say it included people from across Guadalupe County, but also protesters from San Marcos, San Antonio, New Braunfels and Boerne. A small counter-protest, involving a few trucks circling the park, was also reported during Saturday’s event in downtown Seguin.
Nationally, organizers claim that more than a million people participated in similar events across the nation.
