(Cibolo) — Cibolo Police officials say officers Sunday night responded to a report of a missing 92-year-old man with dementia.
His family reported that he had left home without their knowledge.
Officers searched the area but were unable to immediately locate him. A drone was then deployed, which quickly spotted him in a nearby greenbelt.
Officers say thanks to the swift response and the use of technology; the man was safely reunited with his family within 25 minutes of the initial call.
City leaders say this is yet another example of how the Cibolo Police Department leverages innovative tools to protect the community.
Use of Cibolo’s drone equipment was also recently used to locate a man who was suspected of a carjacking in Schertz earlier this month.
That same technology was also used in assisting the Schertz Police Department during an active shooter response — enhancing officer safety and tactical operations.
