(Seguin) — Seguin High School senior James Medrano announced on social media Saturday that he has received an official offer to continue his academic and powerlifting career at UTSA.
Medrano competes in the 132-pound weight class for the Seguin powerlifting team. The Matador men’s team placed third at the Karnes City meet on Saturday. Medrano along with Dante Matthews, Rylan Rubio and Dylan Vazquez all posted personal records at the event.
Meanwhile the Lady Matador powerlifting team earned a 2nd place finish at the Swords Up Powerlifting Invitational in Seguin last week. Seguin senior D’yanna Priestly finished first in her weight class at the meet and qualified for the regional meet.
