Seguin sounding it’s winter weather warning

Seguin, TX, USA / Seguin Today
Seguin sounding it's winter weather warning

(Seguin) — The monitoring of weather is officially underway these next few days in the City of Seguin, Guadalupe County and throughout most areas of the Central Texas Region. An arctic winter cold blast arrived Saturday and is expected to bring even colder weather to the area for the next few days. Officials say there remains an increased chance for wintry mix of freezing rain, sleet, and/or snow occurring across portions of the area tonight (Monday) into Tuesday morning. Residents continue to be reminded to Protect your 4 Ps:

People – Check on loved ones and neighbors.

Pets – Bring them inside and keep them warm. Plants – Cover or bring them indoors.

Pipes – Wrap and insulate to prevent freezing. As temps drop to below freezing, safety must remain a top priority for every home and business!

Officials say City of Seguin utilities, emergency services and public works crews will be on standby and will be ready to assist if the weather impacts any essential services or safety needs.

The public is also reminded that the Seguin Public Library Community Meeting Room will open today, Monday, Jan. 20 from 9 a.m to 5 p.m. for those needing a warm place to go. The library will also be open as a warming shelter for those who need it during normal operating hours on Tuesday and Wednesday. For additional information on shelters, reach out to Seguin PD’s non-emergency phone number at 830-379-2123. For winter weather resources and important information, visit: https://www.seguintexas.gov.  If travel is necessary, be sure to check TxDOT’s drivetexas.org website for current roadway conditions. Any changes with the school schedule will also be made available on each of the district’s respective websites or Facebook pages. Seguin Radio KWED will also have immediate changes or weather warnings on AM 1580 KWED radio or at SeguinToday.com. Details will also be available on the KWED Facebook page.

This week’s arctic blast has already caused the cancellation of some events such as the annual MLK Day Freedom March and Rally in Downtown Seguin.
