SEGUIN, Texas — Texas Lutheran senior setter Shavonne Respondek (San Antonio/Madison) was named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Setter of the Week on Monday, the conference office announced on Monday.
Respondek earned her first award of the season and the second of her career.
The San Antonio native led the Bulldogs to a 2-0 record including a top 25 win over No. 16 Southwestern. Respondek averaged 6.50 assists per set, 4.66 digs per set, and led the Bulldogs to a combined .203 team hitting percentage. Respondek recorded double-doubles in both matches recording 21 assists and 12 digs to go along with five kills against Concordia. She also had a double-double against Southwestern with 18 assists and 16 digs. Friday night, Respondek moved into sixth all-time in TLU program history as she increased her career total to 1,499, passing Megan Dugie (1,488, 2012-15).
For the season, Respondek has had double-doubles in 19 of 23 matches this season. She is averaging 5.14 assists and 3.82 digs per set.
Up next, Texas Lutheran will travel to Austin for their final conference matches of the regular season as they battle for seeding in the 2024 SCAC Tournament. The Bulldogs will open the weekend with Colorado College on Friday, Nov. 8 at 4:30 PM on the campus of Concordia University. The match will be streamed on FloSports.
