Seguin volleyball falls on Friday, but can still earn district title on Tuesday at home

(San Antonio) — The Seguin Lady Matadors fell for the first time in District 27-5A play with a four-set loss at San Antonio Burbank on Friday night.

Burbank took the match 21-25, 25-19, 25-19, 27-25. The Lady Mats lost their first district set in the second set. Seguin had won their first 43 sets in district.

The Lady Mats are 14-1 in district. They are in the playoffs. Seguin will have a chance to clinch a district title when they wrap their regular season Tuesday at home against San Antonio Brackenridge. The match will get underway at 6:30 p.m. at Goldie Harris Gym.

(Geronimo) — The Navarro Lady Panthers took down Fredericksburg in straight sets at Navarro High School on Friday to take over sole possession of third-place in District 26-4A.

Navarro won the match 25-19, 25-17, 25-18. The Lady Panthers will be the 3rd seed out of the district when the bi-district playoffs take place next week.

Navarro closes their regular season Tuesday when they host Bandera.

(San Antonio) — The Marion Lady Bulldogs took over second place in District 27-3A, with a five-set victory at San Antonio Cole Friday night.

The Lady Bulldogs prevailed in a marathon match, 23-25, 25-23, 25-18, 22-25, 15-11. Marion will play in the postseason in Class 3A.

The Lady Bulldogs will wrap up their district schedule on the road at first-place Randolph Tuesday.

The UIL bi-district volleyball playoffs take place next Monday and Tuesday.

(Buda) — And the Lifegate Lady Falcons saw their 2024 season end on Friday, falling in the second round to Houston Banff School in the Texas Christian Athletic League Class 2A volleyball tournament.
