Seguin joins nation in fighting crime

Seguin, TX, USA / Seguin Today
Seguin joins nation in fighting crime

Learning how to fight crime will definitely be a fun time tonight at the Seguin Manor Apartments. The apartment complex will be hosting a foam party for this year’s National Night Out event. Neighbors will also get to enjoy DJ music and free food from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The apartment complex is one of 20 National Night Out registered sites with the Seguin Police Department. The complex invites anyone in the community to come out and learn more about keeping our neighborhoods safe.

National Night Out events slated across the community

(Seguin) – Neighborhoods will come to life during today’s National Night Out events. National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. Locally and throughout Guadalupe County, neighbors will gather for parties, games, potlucks, and other fun activities designed to help raise awareness on safety, protection, and crime fighting.

Whether it’s a neighborhood, a street, a county road, a business, or an apartment complex, residents have come together in various ways to shed light on crime-fighting tools.

Ensuring that residents don’t lose an opportunity to participate in a National Night Out Party is Barnes Middle School.

Barnes administrators say instead of letting tonight’s home football game interfere with National Night Out; they thought they’d bring the two together. With a host of apartments and neighborhoods surrounding the school, they felt it was the perfect location not only for some football but also for some music, concessions, and free hot dogs while supplies last. The event will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

The Seguin Police Department says Barnes is one of 20 registered National Night Out sites that it will visit tonight. Both Seguin PD and Seguin Fire Department officials will make rounds to each registered event. Again, officials say folks who didn’t register but who still want to get out and meet their neighbors or who want to throw a last-minute gathering or party tonight are more than welcome. They say there’s nothing formal or official that needs to happen.

National Night Out has been an annual event across the country since 1984.

Those with specific questions are asked to contact Stephanie Larrimore, the Seguin PD’s community engagement officer at 830-865-6409.
