(Katy) — The Seguin Matadors in Katy to take on the Brazoswood Buccaneers for their final non-district game of the 2024 season. Both teams come into tonight with 0-2 records.

The Matadors have battled injuries and have had to reach deep down into their depth chart after falling in their first two games to Alamo Heights and Corpus Christi Miller. Seguin head coach Craig Dailey says his team knows the season is young and players are ready to take on new opportunities.

“The kids have responded well this week. We’re giving a lot of kids some opportunities to play,” Dailey said. “Really in the first two games, we haven’t been at full (strength) with all our starters as we were going into the season. So, they really responded this week.

“The first two games, we (played) top ten teams in the state. We knew that. We knew they were gonna expose some weaknesses and that’s why we play those games. So now, the kids know what we have to get fixed and they did a good jog of having a plan this week.”

Seguin and Brazoswood kick off at Katy ISD Legacy Stadium at 7 p.m. tonight. We’ll have all the action on KWED.

(Marion) — The Marion Bulldogs are at home for a Thursday night tilt this evening with the Gonzales Apaches.

The Bulldogs are 1-1 on the season after a 42-6 Homecoming victory over New Braunfels Long Creek last Friday. Gonzales is 0-2. They fell 14-7 in a low scoring affair at Hallettsville last week.

Marion head coach Ryne Miller says the Class 4A Apaches will be a big test for his 3A Bulldogs.

“It will be good for us to play a division up for our kids to experience that because one day we’ll be up there,” Miller said. “Gonzales does a lot of great things. They have an extremely athletic quarterback. Their linemen have really good size and the receivers are guys who can make some plays. Our kids are excited for the opportunity.”

Marion and Gonzales will kick off at 7 O’clock this evening over at Veterans Stadium in Marion.

We’ll start our high school football coverage at 6:15 tonight on KWED with the Marion Bulldog report where we’ll have more with coach Miller. And then we’ll head to Katy ISD Legacy Stadium for our Matador football pregame, where we’ll have the Matador report and we’ll hear more from Mat coach Craig Dailey. And then we’ll get you ready for a Thursday night kickoff at 7 p.m. with the Matadors and Buccaneers in Katy on AM 1580 and streaming at SeguinToday.com.

(Geronimo) — The Navarro Panthers in action tomorrow night. Navarro will host Canyon Lake. And we’ll have that game on KWED. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. with our Panther football pregame starting at 7 p.m. Friday on AM 1580 and SeguinToday.com.

(Seguin) — And then on Saturday, we’ll have Texas Lutheran Bulldog football for you.

The Bulldogs, coming off an upset of 13th-ranked Trinity in San Antonio last Saturday, are home this Saturday to host Centenary in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference opener for both teams. Kick off is at 6 p.m. at Bulldog Stadium in Seguin. Our Bulldog football pregame starts at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon on AM 1580 and our broadcast will be simulcast on the TLU+ YouTube Channel.
