Seguin man involved in New Braunfels school crosswalk accident

(New Braunfels) – The rear side door of a Seguin man’s vehicle was struck by a 10-year-old student riding her bike to school Wednesday morning in New Braunfels. New Braunfels Police say while no serious injuries occurred, they are reminding all drivers to slow down and watch for students crossing roadways.

The accident on Wednesday was reported just before 7 a.m. in the 2000 block of FM 1101 at Kowald Lane in front of Freiheit Elementary School.

Officers arrived on scene and found that a black sedan traveling on FM 1101 had come to a stop in the crosswalk on FM 1101 when the female student on a bicycle struck the rear driver’s side door of the vehicle.

The student suffered minor abrasions and was transported by the New Braunfels Fire Department to Resolute Hospital as a precaution. The 65-year-old driver of the sedan was also not injured. At this time, no charges have been filed, but the incident remains under investigation.
