(Milwaukee, Wisconsin) –Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz was one of several Texans to be featured prominently during Wednesday night’s Republican National Convention. De La Cruz, who represents Seguin and most of Guadalupe County, spoke about her journey growing up the daughter of legal immigrants in South Texas and later becoming a member of the U.S. House of Representatives. She also spoke about her concerns with the nation’s current border policy.
Governor Greg Abbott was also among the speakers on Wednesday night. He continued his opposition to President Joe Biden’s immigration policies on a national stage. Abbott told delegates that the administration has failed in its duty to secure the southern border. The governor promised to continue sending busloads of illegal immigrants to self-described “sanctuary cities” in New York and other northern states. Abbott said he supports Trump’s plan to enforce immigration law, deport illegals, and fight drug cartels.
