SEGUIN, Texas — Texas Lutheran’s Justin Freeney (Montgomery/Lake Creek) and Weston Guzman (McAllen/McAllen) have been named Academic All-District selections, the College Sports Communicators (CSC), formerly known as CoSIDA, announced on Tuesday.
The Bulldog duo advances to the CSC Academic All-American ballot, with first-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America honorees announced on July 10. The All-District honors are the first in both of their careers.
Freeney and Guzman are coming off 2024 seasons that saw them serve as two legs of Texas Lutheran’s NCAA Championship qualifying 4x100m relay squad. Both sprinters would earn USTFCCCA All-Region honors in May following a SCAC record breaking effort at the 2024 SCAC Championships that saw the Bulldogs take home a first place finish for the second straight season with a time of 40.81 seconds.
The 2024 Academic All-District® Men’s Track & Field teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top studentathletes for their combined performances on the track, in the field, and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes men’s track & field honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2023-24 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
