(Seguin) — Recruiting businesses is not a lone job. It apparently takes a team effort to help make things happen and help make a community grow.
Those are the thoughts of Josh Schneuker, the executive director of the Seguin Economic Development Corporation (SEDC). Schneuker recently thanked the Guadalupe County Commissioners Court for its role in economic development.
Schneuker along with representatives from other EDCs throughout the county were invited earlier this month to go before the commissioners during a special proclamation signing of Economic Development Week in Guadalupe County.
The county expressed its willingness to partner with the EDC’s in its efforts to create and retain jobs that help facilitate growth, support the workforce development and enhance the overall wealth and tax base of the area.
Schneuker says that unity to grow the local economy is why the Seguin EDC appreciates the role of the county in all of its attempts to help leverage incentive tools so that a deal can be reached.
“We really just want to thank you all for recognizing this week as Economic Development Week for your partnership on a lot of these deals and projects that we work on. A lot of times, there are requirements that have the county and other entities and stakeholders step in to help get these deals over the finish line so we just want to thank you all for that,” said Schneuker.
Schneuker says together, he is hopeful that not only will companies come to the county but that they will stay here for many years to come.
“We are committed to continuing to work on helping create and retain more primary jobs here within our community — focusing and also enhancing the quality of life, diversifying the retail options that we have and most importantly, making sure that we as the city of Seguin, Schertz, Cibolo, New Braunfels, we work in partnership with you all to make sure that we remain economically competitive so now there’s been a big focus on the workforce development efforts as well. So, all that kind of bleeds into economic development and again, we couldn’t do it without your support here today,” said Schneuker.
Schneuker was also joined by some of the newest members of his team. They included new Deputy Director Alora Wachholz and Jessica Dersen, the new industry and workforce manager.
Also on hand representing the Schertz Economic Development Corporation team was Holly Malish.
