(Schertz) – The Guadalupe County Schertz Annex Building located at 1101 Elbel Road in Schertz is set to undergo an interior reconstruction project this spring. To enable the demolition phase to begin, the existing county offices will be temporarily relocated to Guadalupe County Service Center at 1052 FM 78 in Schertz.
Guadalupe County Commissioner Michael Carpenter who will also have to relocate says, “The Schertz Annex building is in need of maintenance and renovation to better accommodate the current (and future) services being provided there. Highest on the list of design elements are accommodating voters during elections. A long, interior hallway will be constructed so that at peak times most citizens – if not all – will be indoors (shielded from the elements and near to additional and upgraded restroom facilities) during their wait in line to cast their vote.”
Carpenter adds, “To achieve this in the most efficient and timely manner, it is best to completely vacate the facility and undertake the construction work as one project. During the construction, my office will be located at the County Courthouse, 101 E. Court Street in Seguin. As always, I can be reached at (210) 452-8003.”
The relocation of services is already underway, and all departments are planned to be in their temporary space by the end of April. The following departments to be relocated to the Guadalupe County Service Center at 1052 FM 78 in Schertz include County Clerk, District Clerk, Elections Office, Justice of the Peace, and Precinct 3 Constable.
The main operator line is (830) 303-4188.
