(Seguin) — The Seguin Lady Matadors wrapped a successful Seguin Softball Tournament with a 2-0 day including a no-hitter on Saturday at the Fields at Huber Ranch.

Seguin pitchers Madyson Schultze and Kendall Hurt dominated the day. The duo combined for a shut-out in a 7-0 win over San Antonio South San. And then they followed that up with a combined no-no in an 11-1 victory over Edinburg Vela.

Hurt started both games for the Lady Mats. The senior went two innings in the first game, striking out two and allowing two hits. She threw one hitless inning in her second game of the afternoon.

Schultze was in command all day in the circle. She struck out four allowing no hits during two scoreless innings in her first appearance. The senior then racked up eight K’s in three innings pitched in the no-hitter against the Lady Sabercats.

The no-hitter was the second of the tournament for the Lady Mat pitching staff. Hurt and Marissa Torrence combined to no-hit El Paso Austin on Friday.

At the plate, Camryn Rios had two hits, two runs and two RBI in the Lady Mat victory over South San. Chloe Belicek also drove in two runs.

Jade Hernandez, Erin Johnston and Schultze all had two hits in the win over Vela. Johnston drove in five while Hernandez and Schultze each had a pair of RBI.

The Lady Matadors went 5-1 over the three-day tournament improving their overall record to 6-1 on the young season. Seguin will host Bandera at Huber Ranch on Tuesday before they embark on a trip to the Aloha State. Seguin will be in Kekaha, Hawaii to play in the 38th Annual Waimea High School Varsity Softball Tournament starting on Thursday.
