(Guadalupe County) — A fire has left an area family of 12 homeless this Thanksgiving week.
Patrick Pinder, Guadalupe County emergency management coordinator and fire marshal, says the fire was reported at 3 p.m. Sunday in the 5400 block of FM 466. Pinder says when firefighters arrived, they found two occupants attempting to put out the flames inside the manufactured home. He says during their efforts, the fire which started in a back bedroom quickly spread into the attic. Pinder reports the loss of several pets. They included a pot belly pig, a dog as well as some reptiles.
Pinder says the fire has been deemed electrical and believes it originated from the back bedroom closet which stored the home’s water heater. The American Red Cross was called out the scene to assist the family.
Those working alongside the Sand Hills Volunteer Fire Department were the Kingsbury, New Berlin, Belmont and Seguin Fire Departments.
