(Seguin) — Texas Lutheran returns to Bulldog Stadium this Saturday for the first of their final two home games of the season when they host the McMurry War Hawks in an American Southwest Conference battle.
The Bulldogs fell on the road this past Saturday to Howard Payne. The Yellow Jackets scored a touchdown with under a minute to play to slip by the Bulldogs, 31-27. The game ended on a Bulldog incomplete pass into the end-zone after TLU drove down to the Howard Payne eight yard-line.
McMurry crushed Austin College 51-13 at home this past Saturday. The War Hawks are 2-3 in conference play. TLU is still looking for their conference win heading into their fifth conference match-up. The Bulldogs are 1-7 overall on the season.
Despite their record, TLU head coach Neal LaHue says his team is still working hard to find ways to win games.
“We’ve been in every game except for maybe one or two and we just gotta get over the hump and finish games,” LaHue said. “And that’s just not kids, that’s coaches too. We gotta do a better job of coming up with the better pass play at the end of the game here and there.
“But I’m just more than anything impressed and proud of how our kids have approached it. They don’t act like a 1-7 team. They’ve played hard every time. They’re not pointing fingers. They’re owing up and they come back to work again. And I’m excited about this week.”
The Bulldogs beat the War Hawks 17-10 in Abilene last season. Saturday’s game between TLU and McMurry kicks off at 1 p.m. at Bulldog Stadium.
