(Seguin) — It’s week four in District 12-5A. The Seguin Matadors will look to keep pace in the district playoff picture when they host the Hays Hawks tonight at Matador Stadium.
Seguin is 2-1, tied with San Antonio Wagner for third place and a game back of 3-0 Smithson Valley and Boerne-Champion. The Hawks are 1-2 in the district, tied with New Braunfels Canyon for fifth place.
Earlier this week, Matador senior center Cooper Neumann was honored with a selection to play in the San Antonio Sports All-Star Football Game. Seguin head coach Craig Dailey says Neumann has a lot of responsibilities in the middle of the offensive line.
“He’s the leader of our offensive line and not just a team captain, but he makes all of our calls up front,” Dailey said. “He ID’s the fronts. He lets the other lineman know who to work to so the backs know how to fit off of it in the passing and in the run game. We put a lot on his shoulders to make checks at the line of scrimmage and he’s done a great job.”
The San Antonio Sports All-Star Football Game takes place on January 6th at the Alamodome.
The Matadors and Hays Hawks meet tonight at Matador Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. and we’ll have the game for you on KWED.
