(Geronimo) — The Navarro Lady Panthers took down Bandera in straight sets on Tuesday night, taking home the victory 25-14, 25-20, 25-21 at Navarro High School.
The teams battled back and forth in the third set exchanging leads numerous times, but the Lady Panthers were able to go on a run late in the set and put the match away with a smash from the left side from senior hitter Taylor Helms. Helms along with Brooklyn Fox, Kate Wozniak, Rylee Smith and Morgan Helms were able to find open spots on the court for Navarro gaining the Lady Panthers points throughout the match.
Lady Panther coach Paige Poth talked after the match about her hitters and lauded their vision, but said she’s looking to also get more consistency from her players up front.
“We have smart hitters. Right now our big focus is consistency and when other teams adjust to our offense, we have to see more,” Poth said. “So, I will give them credit. They found a lot of spots on the short game on a swing. Our big focus right now is that consistency of putting the ball away.”
Navarro is 3-1 in District 27-4A. The Lady Panthers will be back home on Friday night to host Boerne. The match starts at 6 p.m. at Navarro High School.
(San Antonio) — The Seguin Lady Matadors dropped their first District 26-5A match on the season on Tuesday night falling at Pieper in four sets 18-25, 25-9, 25-13, 25-16.
The loss snapped a five-game win streak for the Lady Mats, who are now 3-1 in district. Seguin remains in first place in a four-way tie with Canyon, Smithson Valley and Kerrville Tivy.
The Lady Mats will host the Kerrville Tivy Lady Antlers this Friday. The match gets started at 5 p.m. just before the Homecoming football game at Seguin High School over at Goldie Harris Gym.
(San Antonio) — And the Marion Lady Bulldogs stayed unbeaten in District 26-3A play with a straight sets win at Great Hearts Monte Vista on Tuesday evening.
The Lady Bulldogs like the football team will host Randolph on Friday to cap off Homecoming week at Marion High School. The volleyball match starts at 5 O’clock on Friday.
