SEGUIN, Texas — Shavonne Respondek (San Antonio/Madison), a junior for Texas Lutheran volleyball, picked up her first career SCAC weekly honor Monday following an impressive performance in three wins at the Cal Lu Fornia Invitational in Thousand Oaks, California. Respondek was named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Offensive Player of the Week by the conference on Monday.
Respondek was a force to be reckoned with this weekend as she recorded at least a double-double in each match this weekend to lead the Bulldogs to a 3-1 record in the Cal Lu Fornia Invitational. The versatile Respondek had 25 kills, 74 assists and 65 digs in TLU’s four matches and on Friday recorded her first career triple-double against host Cal Lutheran in a 3-0 TLU sweep with 11 kills, 14 assists, 10 digs while also adding two blocks. Respondek’s performance against Cal Lutheran marked the first triple double in the SCAC this season and just the third since 2021. Emma Parsons of Dallas posted the last triple double by a SCAC volleyball student-athlete when she went for 13 kills, 18 digs and 13 assists against Schreiner on Oct. 21, 2022.
Texas Lutheran’s last SCAC Offensive Player of the Week was Jaci Chambers in 2019.
Texas Lutheran concluded tournament play 7-3 as they turn their attention to SCAC play, opening conference action on Saturday, Sept. 23, against Colorado College and Schreiner at 11 AM and 6 PM on the campus of Southwestern University.
