(Seguin) — A host of events was held this weekend in observance of our fellow Americans and first responders who fell victim to terrorist attacks on U.S. soil.
Monday marked the 22nd anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks that killed 2,996 people in the United States. It was in 2001 that members of the al-Qaida terrorist group hijacked four planes and crashed them into the World Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.
Here in Seguin, several organizations vowed never to forget the events of that day. Among the events hosted were the American Legion Post 245 First Responder Breakfast, the Hillcrest Church 911 American Celebration, the American Legion Riders 245 and Gruene Harley Davidson Never Forget 9/11 Ride, a solemn ceremony in the city of Seguin outside the Seguin Police Department and the Seguin High School JROTC’s public remembrance ceremony at Matador Stadium.
