(Seguin) — The college offers continue to roll in for Seguin Matador football players. Earlier this week, senior tight end Jackson Pond announced he received an offer from Virginia University of Lynchburg and on Wednesday senior running back John Jackson announced on social media that he has also been offered by the Virginia school.
The offer for Jackson comes after an offer he received from McMurry University on June 20th. Jackson was a Second Team All-District 12-5A selection in 2022 as a junior, leading the Matadors in rushing with 798 yards and nine touchdowns. In 2021, Jackson topped 1000 yards on the ground as a sophomore with 1118 yards to go along with another nine scores.
Jackson is also a star athlete for the Seguin basketball team. He was named the District 26-5A Offensive MVP this past season. Jackson averaged over 21 points per game and passed the 1000 point plateau in his career during a 90-89 Seguin victory over Converse Judson on December 8th.
Seguin High School seniors Pond, Jackson, offensive lineman Cooper Newman, defensive back Donovan Cray and sophomore quarterback Corey Dailey have all received college football offers in the last three months. Pond has received three college offers while Cray has secured four offers.
The Matadors were 6-5 in 2022 under second year head coach and Seguin High School alum Craig Dailey. The 2023 regular season gets started for Seguin on August 25th on the road at Alamo Heights.
Seguin will be in action Friday night at Matador Stadium. They’ll host Pflugerville for a scrimmage. The practice game gets started at 7 p.m.
