(Seguin) β Seguin Police Officers know how having the right tools helps make their jobs easier. They also know that the right tools are also very important for area students as they head back to class.
In its quest to ensure that all local students have the right tools to learn, the Seguin Police Department this weekend will be equipping them with full backpacks.
The police department is expecting to distribute approximately 250 backpacks during its Second Annual Back to School Backpack Drive this Saturday in the Seguin Coliseum parking lot.
Sarah Wallace, the community engagement officer with the Seguin PD, says thanks to other city departments and the community, students will be receiving everything they need to start learning.
βItβs going to be a drive-through setup and to receive a backpack or any school supplies, you would have to have the child with you in the car just to keep it fair for everybody. It is the only requirement in order to receive a backpack or school supplies and it will be a first come, first serve,β said Wallace.
Again, to receive a backpack, the child must be in the vehicle at the time of the event.
The Back to School BackPack Drive gets underway at 10 a.m. Saturday outside the Coliseum located at 950 S. Austin St.
