Navarro Grad Jaxen Monkerud Earns First Win with Seguin River Monsters

(Baton Rouge, LA) — The Seguin River Monsters beat the Baton Rouge Rougarou 4-2 in Louisiana on Tuesday night.

Navarro High School grad Jaxen Monkerud picked up his first win of the season on the bump. The right hander went six innings allowing only one earned run while striking out four.

Monkerud is a freshman at West Texas A&M where he plays with his twin brother Kaden, who plays catcher. Both Monkerud brothers play for the River Monsters as well.

Jaxen Monkerud has made seven appearances for Seguin this season with four starts. He has struck out 15 batters in 22 and 2/3 innings pitched.

Kaden Monkerud has four RBI in 20 at-bats for the River Monsters this summer. Kaden has played in eight games for Seguin this season.

The Monsters will conclude their nine-day road trip Wednesday night against the Acadiana Cane Cutters in Lafayette, Louisiana. Seguin is 10-9 in the second half of the Texas Collegiate League season after going 7-16 in the season’s first half.

The Monsters are off on Thursday and then they are back home for their final two home games of 2023 on Friday and Saturday nights. Friday night’s game against Acadiana is GVEC Night at Smokey Joe Williams Field with free admission. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
